Email lists

I probably get about 400 email or more a day. Most of the email I get is junk. It goes straight into a spam box either with my Google account or through my email client. I never see most of it.

I would gather that most of you are the same way. You have a spam filter on your email so it will remove all the stuff you don’t want to see and leave the important things that you do want to see.

So, now I have a question for you.

Why would you want to pay someone to mass email your business to everyone in the world. Most of whom don’t want to see what you are selling? Don’t you think that is a bit strange? How many people would you expect to read it? How many would you expect to get upset and send a notification to your ISP? It could happen.

It is alot easier to just use a mailing list that is established just for that purpose. There are many mailing lists out there that are ready to send your email to people who want it. But the best email list is the one you create yourself from people who subscribe to your newsletter or email service.

If you have a webpage that is selling a product, start a newsletter. Make it bi-monthly if you like. Or more often. Just as long as you ask people to sign up instead of getting a list from some dubious resource.

People who are interested in what you are selling will sign up for this. They will be expecting a newsletter periodically. Send them
your newsletter with specials on what you are selling.

You could even send them tips on how to do something.

Perhaps you sell wood working tools.

Send your newsletter to your list with a monthly woodworking tip. Add a bit of advertisement for something you are looking to sell at the bottom. Or give a list of tools that the tip or project in your newsletter requires with links to those tools in the email.

Whatever you do, try to keep it to the point and free of outside advertisement.

Newsletters are a great source of income if you keep them on topic and timely. You should start one today.
