I mentioned all these cool ways of getting people to give you money but I haven’t said how you can make a website.
Websites are pretty darn important to have. If you haven’t gathered already most of what I have discussed requires a website.
Creating a website is fairly easy. There are lots of tools out there to help you. There are even some cookie cutter type things that some web hosts offer.
What makes a good webhost?
That all depends on what you plan on doing. Most are just fine for small amounts of traffic. Price would probably be the biggest factor for you to consider if you are just starting out.
Pick a host which has the lowest price you can find. Check to see what services it offers and see if they provide everything you need. You can generally find good services for about $50 per year. That should include the domain name as well.
There are lots of free hosts out there too. Don’t forget them. The bad thing about that is you will probably have unwanted advertisements on your website or you cannot create a unique domain name. You kind of have to remember TANSTAAFL(There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch) when you look at the free services. They may not charge you but there are other ways they make their money off of you.
If you are new to website design and programming there are lots of scripts you can use. Of course these scripts do require some specific services to be present with your webhost so keep that in mind when looking into the host.
What is a CMS?
A CMS is a Content Management System. They are used to quickly set up a website and make the websites easy to maintain. Most take very little knowledge of web programming to set up and run.
Once you have your website set up with a CMS you can just provide the content and let it run.

One of the best features of each of these is that they will cost you absolutely nothing to download and install. That’s right. They are FREE!
Of course, nearly everything I give you here will be free. If it isn’t free it won’t cost much.
What is a Forum?
Forums are a system of posting comments on different things. Basically it is a slow way of chatting. Faster than email and t here could be literally thousands of people on a forum. Some of the larger forums have upwards of 10,000 people. Imagine if just 2% donated $1 a month. That would be $200 in monthly income. Just for giving people the ability to chat.
What would I do to start a forum? Well that would depend on you really. There are some really nice, here we go again, free forums that are highly customizable. All you would need to do is provide a host, a subject and some spare time.
One of the better free Forums is Phpbb. It has a large support community which will help you out and can also help customize your forum for you if you have that need. There are other Forum software packages but they are not free. They are equally good, maybe even better, just you will have to pay for the package.
Using one of these two things, a CMS or Forum, you can get a website going pretty quick and add some content with little or no knowledge. Once you have your website up and running you can implement some of the suggestions in my previous posts.
