I have written about this before when I was using Blogger.com as a Blog engine. I think it is probably time to update it with a new article. I thought about just reposting the old article but things have changed quite a bit since then that it really does warrant a new article.
Most people already know about Amazon.com. It is a great place to shop for just about anything. What a lot of people may not know is that you can make money with Amazon.com. If you have things you want to sell or a business and want to sell to a larger market Amazon might be for you. But that isn’t what this article is about. We may discuss that later. But for now, we will be discussing their affiliate program.
Amazon has a fairly neat affiliate program, Amazon Associates. You can earn money when people you refer to Amazon buy things from the Amazon site. They have several different methods of advertising that you can use. Of course you have to be an Associate to get this.
One method that is pretty popular is through Banner advertisements. They are fairly easy and you can semi target them towards your website audience. Of course they actually have to buy things but that is another story.
Another method they have is Amazon Stores. This is fairly new to Amazon Associates. You used to have to have third party software on your website to create your own store that showed products from amazon. Now, you just have to place some code on your website after you tailor the store to your needs with specific products or categories of products.
Right now, Amazon is running a special and increasing the commission rates for the holidays. Trying to get more people to shop online with them.
This is a nice simple way to earn a little bit of money. The commissions are about 4% for most items. Some run more and some less but it will usually average out to 4%.
Could be a nice addition to a website you already have if you are interested in it. Low maintenance and easy to set up. It will mostly do the work itself once it is going. Very little time will be needed to maintain it. And all you would need is the ability to insert a bit of code into a page. They give you the code so you don’t have to figure anything out.
