Updated the Wp Directory List to fix some bugs that caused some problems with those who were not using reCaptcha. I also added a rudimentary search feature to the Manage Directory menu.

Some people were experiencing problems with links saving. This was sometimes caused by missing fields. This was due to my misunderstanding of some of the database code. It should be fixed so that the tables in the database gets modified properly. Fixes some of the missing fields.

I removed the Google Map Key since it isn’t working yet. The map function will be included once we get the search feature working.

I am still working on a search feature. It is coming. Probably for the 1.6.0 version.

Just released some changes to the Directory List plugin. There are some new features and some bug fixes that come along with this release. Maybe some of the bug fixes will fix the Wp Super Cache problem some users were having.

New features include adding a thumbnail Image of the linked website. Sorting of the links by clicking on the category when all categories are displayed. Sorting by category for better management in the Admin management menu.

Video Opt-in Pages are becoming a norm for the Internet Marketing sphere. You see them everywhere trying to sell you something that you might or might not want.

They are a great tool if you want something to seem more personalized. Something that is coming from you. And it is probably a better sales tool than your standard squeeze(landing) page.

I started looking at this because of an email I got from many of the mass newsletters I receive for internet marketing. So I did a little research on this and found this blog post on how to create your own video optin page.

The great thing about this is that all of the tools you really need are either free or already on your computer. You could even use Wordpress.

Everyone loves traffic. It is what makes internet marketing work for many out there making thousands of dollars a day.

Twitter is one of the fastest growing communities on the web today. There is still plenty of time to take advantage of this emerging market.

An example of this has shown up with TweeterGetter. A great tool to expand the number of followers to your tweets and possibly your website. The more people following, the more targets you have for your product.

TweeterGetter has a unique method of growing your follower base. And is a great example of internet inovation.

The concept is simple, when you retweet the message in the form below, you will automatically start following the 6 people in front of you in the system.

A message posted on your twitter will automatically be formated with your unique link. Meaning that when people follow through to this site, they will have to follow you in position 1 to use the system themselves.

Now when those people refer others via their link, their new followers will also follow you in position 2 and so on down 5 levels deep. By the time you reach the 5th position, you will have thousands, if not tens of thousands of new twitter followers… and it NEVER stops growing!

All of this with a simple site run with the Twitter API.

If you are looking for a version of this site that you can run personally, you can either create something on your own(it is very simple) or you can download some software from ViralTweets. It does the same thing as TweetGetter.

Just updated WP-Directory-List. Fixed some minor bugs. Some of which might have caused some problems with WP-Super-Cache. Not too entirely certain about that though.

Added reCAPTCHA to help keep your directory of links spam free. You will need to sign up for a key at reCAPTCHA.

Just uploaded the latest release to the plugin. I added a widget to the plugin and cleaned up some of the link display code to make it less server intensive hopefully. You should also be able to add some content before and after the shortcodes now. This will temporarily solve the parent/child category question until I think of a good method of adding links to those categories.

I still haven’t gotten around to the Address layout. I hope to have that for the next release.

Thanks for all of the input I have gotten on the other release. I really do appreciate it. And I do plan on adding some of the suggestions.

Will continue to add features but wanted to upload a couple of fixes that I hadn’t noticed before I released it the first time.

Click tracking works now and will show up under the description of the link. Once I figure out how to do it then it will use the same style of links that everything else in your wordpress uses for seo redirection.

Added a Pending menu selection that will only show pending links. A number will appear beside it just like what you see in comments and the plugins. help let you know that there are pending links to be looked at and approved.

Upped the version to 1.0.1

Added a Pending submenu with a counter for pending links.
Added a Pending link form that shows only pending links.
Added option for redirecting for click counting
added option for showing number of clicks

address shows up now when option to display address is checked.
email shows up now when option to display email and address is checked.

A Categorized Directory Listing for Url’s and Businesses. The Directory Listing can range from the simple link with Description to a full business address, phone, fax and contact email.

Create separate pages for each category or list all of them at one time. Sort them by any database field for the links in either ascending or descending order.

Allow your users to add links that will be pending until approved. Or Add the links in the Admin panel.

Here are a couple more handy plugins to have for your Wordpress website.

Sociable – You might see some little icons at the bottom of posts in Wordpress for various sites such as Facebook, StumbleUpon, Technocrati, Digg and many others. These are all social websites where users participate in finding interesting things to share. What could be better than having them share your content? Can you say more traffic?

Wordpress Download Monitor – Have an Ebook? Would you like to make a bit of extra cash with it? Want to know how many have downloaded it after they have paid you using the ArePayPal plugin? Just use this handy plugin to upload your ebook. Track the downloads and secure it to members only.

Google XML Sitemaps – This is probably the most absolute handy plugin you could install. It is a definite must have for any Wordpress blog. Configure it once you install it and your pages and posts will be added to the Google directory search much faster than if you waited for Google to crawl your site. Sometimes only hours from the time you post to the time people find you through the search engine.

WP-Affiliate – Affiliate marketing is always a touchy thing. People can just copy the link and remove your id to deny you any commission. This can happen easily if someone uses an iframe to display your site and some software to just swap their affiliate id with yours. Users are also a bit more inclined to click on a link that doesn’t have an affiliate id. This plugin will allow you to add links that will redirect to the actual link without the user knowing until they are already there. It will also help you with your Google page ranking as Google looks for those affiliate id’s and off site linking. This works great with affiliate programs like Clickbank and Commission Junction.

With a little work you can have a healthy number of revenue streams with your Wordpress Blog. All while providing great content for your readers.
